The Information centre Banská Bystrica was established in 1985 under the name “Culture and Information centre (KIS)” as a department within the city-owned institution Park kultúry a oddychu PKO (Park of Culture and Relaxation). It has been providing tourist information services since 1992.
IC Banská Bystrica is a founding member of the Association of Information Centres of Slovakia (AICES) with seat in Liptovský Mikuláš.
The Information centre provides free information about:
1) City and its surrounding
cultural and historical monuments,
natural attractions,
cultural, sports and relaxation facilities,
summer and winter resorts,
accommodation facilities and restaurants,
different tourist attractions,
tips for trips,
possibilities to spend free time,
cultural and sport events
2) Possibilities of promoting an event in the city and surrounding in the form of monthly overviews 3) Promoting materials
The Information centre Banská Bystrica provides paid services:

souvenirs, gifts, postcards, tourist stamps and wander cards,
tourist maps and guides,
educational and promotional materials and books,
tickets for events via Ticketportalt,
ticket sale for events organised by cultural institutions in the city and surrounding
discount cards,
2) Guided tours in the city and surrounding with qualified tourist guides, 3) Regular thematic tours in the city and surrounding – Potulky mestom (Wandering through the city) 4) Clock tower services 5) Sticking posters for advertising cultural events in the city and surrounding
